Sickle Cell Anemia.

Sickle Cell Anemia.

Sickle cell anemia (SS) is inherited from the parent whose genotype is AS. sickle cell anemia affects the shape of the red blood cell which is a circle to a sickle-shape. individuals that are sickler experience a lot of pain known as Crisis, when the red blood cell that is round and pliable for easy flow of blood in the vessels become sticky and sickle-shaped, which prevents
easy flow of blood in the blood vessels.

The crisis can be triggered by

Dehydration

Stress

Anger

Exposure to heat or cold

Malaria

The crisis can be prevented by

REGULAR INTAKE OF WATER: drinking water regularly is very important for a sickler because water prevents the red blood cell from getting sticky and sickle-shaped. also, it enhances the easy flow of blood in the blood vessels.

TAKE FOLIC ACID AND PALUDRINE ON DAILY BASIS: folic acid maintains the red blood cells while paludrine prevents malaria which may result in crises.

BLOOD TRANSFUSION: this is done when there is a shortage of blood and when the blood needs to be changed.

Don't be exposed to too much heat, or cold, and avoid stress.
